Day 53 - cut my eggs
Well, I always said, I'd prefer to let the snakes slit the opening themselves... but.
Well, I caught cutting fever and I finally couldn't stand it and slit open the last two eggs from my season.
5 eggs laid by my cinny female, 2 went bad immediately, one died within a week of hatching, fetus was cinny but kinked severely(see thread).

Slitting these two show what appears to be TWO CINNAMONS.
My ONLY visable hatchlings of this season. I can't wait for them to emerge.

Congrats Theresa on the cinny babies. I'm crossing my fingers that they are both females for you. :gj:

Oh Theresa what are the odds of that! Congrats! Can't wait to see the babies when they come out.

Well, both babies look like cinnamons, possibly a cinny cross.
However. It's obvious I have no ball luck this year.
Here's the 2nd baby(the 1st is the failed one in the other thread).

I'm beginning to think I should hang up my breeding hat at this point. This is just too devestating. He's alive and moving, and may live. If he seems to do okay, I'll care for him as long as he lives. If he can't eat properly, or acts in pain, I'll have him euthanized.
Someone is up there with a grudge against me.

Really sorry about the first two. I am keeping my fingers crossed for that third one!

Last baby emerged halfway, and is kinked and deformed as well.
Both are being euthanized. I'm just so upset, with all the time I waited and was so looking forward to these eggs, and to have to kill the two live babys...
How much do you go through before you quit altogether?

I'm very sorry for your bad luck.If I hatched anything that looked like that, I'd put in the freezer straight away.
What temp did you incubate at? What thermostat did you use?
How did you check your incubator temps? How stable were the temps? Was the thermostat probe in the tub?
Hope you don't mind my questions, I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong.

Sorry to see that. I really think you must have had a temp spike or some other problem with your incubater. The chance of all three being kinked without some type of incubator problem is very slim IMO. Can the pictured baby move at all? Could you possibly post a pic of the last one? Sucks, but don't give up next season is just around the corner.

Oh I'm so sorry, I know that must feel horrible. You have to try your best to "soldier on" An unfortunate aspect of breeding is sometimes you have to deal with those that don't make it, or that make it with issues such as these. I think you're doing the right thing by putting them down. Don't let this take away your desire to breed. Babies like this are not the norm and I'm sure you'll do better next year. Best wishes.
