Its a fact, Asar has mites...
So I took Asar out today for a short handling session and I noticed more of the white specks along his body... After a little while I noticed a movement near his head, and wouldn't you know it, a mite. I took two off of him, tried to find more, but couldn't. I'm really upset right now. Just ordered a can of provent-a-mite from pro-products. So when I get this miracle mite remover, how do I go about clearing Asar AND his habitat of both mites and the eggs? Because I'm assuming the white specks I'm seeing are nasty little eggs. o.O Please and thank you BP.net.

Hmm, should I soak Asar for a while? I feel really bad that he has to wait around for the provent-a-mite to get here, while mites are crawling all over him. ]= Anything I can do until the product gets here?

You can soak your snake to remove the mites. Put a drop of dish soap in the water to break up the surface tension, and drown those suckers. Then clean out the cage as best you can.

What type bedding do you use? It sounds like you may have some type of wood mite, instead of snake mite. Are you seeing little moving black specks?

I use aspen bedding. And yes, the two bugs I pulled off and killed were black. Dish soap won't hurt the snake? And what about the eggs? Will they die off too? Thanks for the reply.

One drop of dishsoap won't hurt your snake. The soaking will only kill the adults, but you'll have to wait until the Provent a Mite to make a more permanent dent in the mite problem.
