What would you like to see?

I am working on a website. I am trying to get things right from the start, so it will take me a while (usually I am so excited to get stuff out there I rush some stuff .. and then it's not good later). The sites purpose and features are evolving and changing a lot over time.

Here is what you need to know:

1. It will be centered around the Herp community with a side order of my collection and adventure involving said collection

2. There will be a store selling animals.

3. There will be forums

Here is what I want from you guys. What do you hate most, and love most about the sites your frequent? This can be any sites .. fauna, bp.net, snakebytes, or any breeders page. What is it that makes you come back for more and what keeps you away basically

I would also love to know what you would like to see on a website that you can't find on most. any features you don't find anywhere?

hmm..good question. what hasn't already been done? I don't mean that in a mean way...it's an honest question that I ask myself every day.

Blogs are a part of it, but this is not something I want to center it around. I want it to be a gathering place of sorts .. I don't know how to explain it. I think my idea is best described as "One Stop Shop"

That is why I asked. I don't know. I am going down my list and wondered is there was anything that people have not yet seen, but would like to see on a herp centered website.

I would like 1 or 2 .. or 3 people to help me test some new features. Anyone interested?

Personally, from a design POV, I prefer things simple and easy to navigate through. Don't clutter it up too much with frivolous things.

I would definitely include a gallery of sorts. People always love to post pics of their animals and show them off.

NO! Well ... maybe. I mean, I can't say publicly that there will in fact be free booze and cookies, but I will tell you that the chances of you getting said cookies and booze are greater than 0%.

agreed. I will only have forums, a chat box, a map creating feature, kids games, cookie recipes, travel advice, coupons for Bed Bath & Beyond, car care tips, social networking, politcal banter, breaking news, opinion polls, a place to purchase new wireless contracts, a candy store, and a place for people to gather and worship me.

You know, the usual.
