Do ball pythons make nests? My female who is a yearling and about 700 grams has started to form what looks like a nest and then keeps laying in that spot she has even moved on of here hides to it.

Maybe she prefers the temps and conditions there, and decided to make herself comfortable?

Yep they'll do that sort of thing. I've had some that will form quite interesting configurations with their aspen, piling it here and there. I've seen our mature females rip/shred and pile newspaper to make some sort of snakey tent. How they do this without fingers amazes me. I had a hatchling the other day who quite nicely placed her hide over top of her water dish...without flipping the hide or spilling one drop of water. How in heck she accomplished that without the use of hands I'll never know LOL.

I've watched one silly snake decide she preferred one hide over the other (they were identical for goodness sakes!) and when she wanted to go from the cool side to the warm side, she hooked her tail in her hide entrance and dragged her favored hide with her (pushing the apparently disliked hide to the side - remember they were identical!). Snakes are just odd.

One of my girls who also has two identical hides, one on the warm side and one on the coo, rather than moving herself between the two hides, she tends to just drag whatever hide she's in to where she wants it. I think she just doesn't like her furniture arranged the same way I like it, so she "rearranges" her house the way she likes it...
