    Neutered Male
My roommates got their cat neutered today by the SPCA. I've never had an unneutered male (all the male cats I've had were neutered before I got them) so I don't know what its supposed to look like after the procedure. Raphie's testicles look shaved and red. I'm not sure what its supposed to look like but we are kind of worried since we've never seen it before. Could anyone describe what a normal neutering is supposed to look like on a cat same day of surgery? We don't have a camera right now.

They shave them, scrub them with betadine, rinse(or not, if they are lazy and have 50+ cats to do that day). He may have razor burn if the clippers weren't oiled and were hot.

Just don't let him lick himself and get everything irritated and he'll be fine. They don't put stitches in or anything, but some vets put some skin glue on(usually not though).

They used skin glue. We were just worried that it didn't look right. We are trying to keep him from licking but we can't be with him 24 hours a day.

I'd get a e-collar or make one to use on him when you're not around. He needs to be kept from licking, it will get it irritated, raw and then infected. It's just itchy now from healing and the glue.

Usually they just tell you to bring them back if there is any swelling or discharge. That area's going to be irritated for a couple days, though.
