equipment questions

I'm hoping someone can answer a couple questions for me. I have a male bp (9 years old) who's almost 4 1/2 ft long. I do my best to go above and beyond the call of duty as far as his husbandry but much of the equipment I got for him was directly related to my available funds (cheap analog thermo and hygro which I don't trust) and now I need to get some better stuff. The first question is; can anyone tell me a good accurate thermometer and hygrometer?

The second issue is, I have him in a 40 gallon enclosure with a screen top and, as many of you may know, it's incredibly difficult to maintain a steady humidity level with a screen top. I can't be home all the time to mist the little guy and he absolutely hates that anyway, lol so I would appreciate any advice anyone can offer.

Covering part of the top with heavy duty foil should help. A wide water dish, along with wet moss in dishes could also help. I am guessing you run the air all the time? Sheesh humidity is running 70 or 80 here even with the top uncovered.

I would die of heat stroke if I didn't run the air all the time lol. Thanks for your help. I'll try that.

Foil over the top works wonders! I had towels over the tops of my tanks for a long time, now that I have foil, no humidty problems, as long as I spray a few times a day. It's unfortunate, but I have to have my snakes under the vents, but I do point them straight up.

I recommend these a lot, because I think they're great. A T-Stat from Spyder Robotics will do you wonders. Heck Dion should pay me for the amount of times I recommend him. The product is called herpstat. $125 but totally worth it for an animal that you may have for over 20 years!
