16 hour light period too long?
I recently set up a culturing station of microalgae to feed clownfish fry. The photo period for the micro algae is 16 hours on 8 hours off. The problem is they are in the same room with my male BP. Will this be a problem (note that I plan on breeding him this year)?

I think it would be ok just for keeping a snake in the same room...but I have no idea if that sort of light cycle going 24/7 would have an impact on breeding.

Maybe you could set up some sort of cover to lay over the BP's enclosures to give them a longer "night time."

Balls need shorter light cycles and lower temps during breeding season to simulate the breeding season in the wild. This much light MIGHT affect your snake from breeding. Maybe the towel trick mentioned above will work.

I have read that many BP breeders do shorten their lighting cycle for breeding but in all actuality when studied in their native Africa they are so close to the equator that the lighting cycle changes only minutes so is virtually no different.

That said, I dont think it should interfere with breeding, I have snakes breeding right now with one girl who just had her prelay shed today. So the lighting obviously wasnt a factor. They go when they want to go, I let them tell me when they want to breed, after all they are the ones doing the deed not me (with snakes that is LOL):D

    Thanks for the responses.
I think I am going to move the culture station to another room, I just need to figure out where.
