You've heard of "Python Car Alarms"
Seems someone in Africa took it a little farther.
clicky here
Re: You've heard of "Python Car Alarms"
you know i think waking up with 2 african rock pythons in my bed would be a very not good thing. that along with the whole blatant lack of care for the snakes is mildly disturbing.
Re: You've heard of "Python Car Alarms"
They are burmese pythons. The press always get the species wrong.
Unless the pic is from somewhere else.
Ya, The traditional healers here, or "sangomas" usually use snakes to "prove" to the very supersticious locals, that they indeed have the power of the ancestors and can handle the "deadly" animals, without dying...
And I think the SPCA have a right to complain about this case, although, usually they just moan about everything...
They're currently campaining against keeping exotic animals here in SA, They won't get it right.
Anyway, ya, the local "African" people, if you want to call them that, are very supersticious; They are deathly affraid of frogs, snakes and especially chameleons, they believe they can make lightening strike people... It sounds like I'm joking, but I'm not.
So, this kind of thing is terrible example of animal husbandary, but unfortunately, some of those guys don't know better.
But it does suck.

Ditto all the above and more.....................:rage:
Re: You've heard of "Python Car Alarms"
This is what really pisses me off about traditional BS artists! They use these animals and TOTALLY misrepresent them, and have NO regard for the animals safety.
I have seen storys down here in South Africa where it is believed that snakes cause your house to be cursed, the traditional healer then comes and catches the snake in your house (usually a planted Burmese python) and sets it alight on your lawn to break the curse.
The authorities usually can’t do anything about this sort of thing as it is seen as part of their culture…
Traditional healers have also been granted full medical right down here (they can claim from medical schemes etc. ) nailing this sort of thing has become even more of a challenge.
The worst thing is, we down here in SA can barely keep Afrocs because of legislation. But the locals can kill them for food because “it is part of their culture…”
Gotta love Africa…
