    Probe Placement
I have a Herpstat and a Ultratherm uth. My question is where is the preferred place to put the probe from the Herpstat at on the uth? Should it be in the middle, off to one side or right under where the hide is going to be sitting in the enclosure?

I have mine under the hide, around the area he usually sleeps (at the back of the hide.) But really anywhere above the UTH should work. The purpose is to measure the belly temperature to make sure it isn't too hot for your little guy. Hope this helps.

    Hi,

It is more recomended to have the probe for the herpstat in an area where the snake cannot affect it if possible.

In a tub or tank this is normally done by taping it to the surface of the UTH between the UTH and the bottom of the tank and then using a thermometer placed inside the enclosure at various points to dial in the temps.

It gets a little more tricky if you are using wooden vivaria and some other designs so it would porobably make this a lot easier if you could describe your set up for us.
