Keeping rat colonies in same room as BP's

I just purchased a breeding rat colony, and was wondering if it was safe to keep them in my snake room? I've heard many different angles on this, from people saying they've housed colonies right next to their setups and their bp's have become desensitized to the rat scent, from other people telling me that it made their bp's more agressive or I guess "more eager to feed". I just wanted to know some thoughts and if anyone is currently employing this setup and can tell me their experience. Thanks!
