Rack versatility! Let me show you it..
..Well not yet, since I am not home to take a pic. But I wanted versatility in one/two racks. Meaning, that one rack can hold babies, juvies, subadults and big mommas. So we built racks that hold 41-quart Sterilites.. But with a little moving around, the same racks also hold small shoeboxes for hatchlings, and midsized boxes for juvies.. and also (32s I think they are?) for males! All in one rack, and with minimal changes only required. The 41s, mediums, and small (like 2 shoeboxes wide) tubs are all the same height. Interchanging them is simple. For the shoeboxes, I merely add in a panel of melamine underneath (not nailed in, just set-in) and slide the shoeboxes in atop that for a snug fit!
I can't wait to post pics. In this manner, I don't have to build a seperate hatchling rack that I might only need for a few months until the babies are either sold or outgrow their shoeboxes.. I can now just upgrade their tubs and use the same rack. Maybe someday when we breed more females at once (we only had 3 clutches this year) a hatchling-only rack would work, but it is not something we need just now.

I don't want to hijack the thread but if you're interested in building a rack that holds multiple size tubs. I have one that holds 12 6 quart tubs, 9 32 quart tubs, and 4 12 quart tubs.

Here's the thread I posted it in.

    Hope that helps.
