day 47... driving me nuts!

I have a double sired clutch from my favorite normal to a het orange and a pastel.

This snake was HUGE and built and was gravid for an eternity before giving me nine eggs.

I am on day 47, the eggs are dimpling like crazy (humidity is good) and the babes are super busy. Everytime I check or candle I can actually see heads laying against (and moving against) the sides of the eggs.

As well with this clutch I can see patterning through the eggs... all shades of groovy. :)

I am cutting on day 54, Tuesday August 26th... but my other clutch did not dimple like this, the babes were slow to come out of the eggs, and the hatchlings were not near this busy.

Any chance this may mean they are getting ready to pip early? This is only my second clutch so I still feel like a complete noob/boob.

I still have nice strong veins in every egg, and am pretty happy. Like I said this female is by far my favorite snake. Sweetest of all sweet snakes she is. To get 9 babes from her is just an absolute rush and a gift. :)

I love this girl. I have always said that if I ever HAVE to take a wife, like it becomes law or something, then she is the ONE!

I cannot wait to see her babes and I have my fingers crossed that I get 9 healthy hatchlings from her. To raise even one of her daughters up will be the best feeling ever.

She is just gotten her tone back after laying and is eating up a storm. She was a funny girl after she laid. She was a bit loose in her tone and wasn't hitting her rats right, so the rats would get tangled in her coils and would travel into her hide.

She would dart in, try and find them, and when she couldn't get them, she'd come out, stare at me through the tub and hiss at me hysterically.

I have never seen snake rage... but that was a fine example! And really, what was I supposed to do about it? :)

I had to explain to her... "I would like to help you, but you seem to be a bit angry at the moment. Once you calm down, I will glady reach in find your rat... but at the moment Missy, I am not comfortable with your emotional state to intervene."

I actually gave her a second rat, and when she was busy eating it, I dug through her coils and retrieved the wayward snack. :)

Ok... babbling... just killing time till these eggs PIP!

I know it's off topic but WOW! I'm impressed with the art room in the background. Seems like a relaxing setup you have there. That first pic really does show that you seem to have a connection to your snake at a different level. It all seems spiritual, and I like it.

Thanks KM... we have a lot of art (we used to own a gallery and all - well most - of our friends are artists).

This snake is the best. She's my therapy snake... end of a hard day, if the temps are OK in the apt I just pull her out and hang with her.

She is the kind to just sit in your lap with her head resting on your hand. Very cool snake. If her babes get half of any of her good traits they'll be nice snakes and then some. :)

Keep up! I can't wait to see the little babies pipping. :)

Yeah, my last clutch is on day 53..... I check them 4-5 times a day! So, I know how you feel!! But I'm probably going to snip on Saturday..... :D
