How do you delete your ads?

Ads aren't deleted here. If an ad is no longer applicable, you can use one of your two bumps to make an additional note in the thread that the animal (or whatever) is no longer available. If both bumps have already been used, you can contact a staff member and they can edit the original post to add a line to that affect.

It does seem a waste of server space, but given the nature of the business, I can understand the reason for the procedure.:)
