Little orange dude slithered across my living room!

Is it "field" herping when they come to you? I think so. :P I was sitting on the computer, browsing the web, when out of the corner of my eye I see this crawl across the living room floor:

I trapped him in a big bowl for the photos, though it probably wasn't necessary. He was super calm and laid back. As soon as I set him outside he uncurled and calmly went on his way. Really pretty little guy. Don't know what he was, but I love the perfect stripe and the cream-colored ring on his neck. :D This is Southern Florida if anyone wants to venture a guess at what he was.

My boyfriend gave me a good laugh during the ordeal. I hollered to him, "Hey, there's a snake in the living room!" When he asked "Which one is it?" I replied, "No, I mean it's not one of mine. There's a random snake in the house." and he just went, "...oh". -lol- I thought it was funny; maybe you had to be there. :P

lol that is kinda funny!! I think i wouldve freaked out a little bit though if i saw anything crawling across my floor hahaha... great photos! You sure do find some weird stuff in our neck of the woods (im in south fla too)

That's awesome!! Is it a baby corn of some sort? I dunno, not great at ID. But it's darned cute.

Does look like a young Corn (Red Rat) snake. Cute little guy.

Its an adult Brown snake. Not sure of the subspecies. If you had a belly shot, it may even be a Red-Bellied Brown snake :)

The belly was cream colored like its neck ring. And I've been told its a "decay snake" though I've never heard of that before and can't find much info on them.

Dekay's Brown Snake, aka Storeria dekayii. It's a Brown snake :)

It looks like yours is Storeria dekayi victa, the Florida Brown Snake.

Oooh a red one :D. I've seen some brown/yellow ones and a baby red one but I couldn't catch the little sucker (he was a baby)
