Refreeze Mouse?

Today was feeding day for Sir Hiss but he wasn't interested into the mouse and he is in the blue. He has never turned down it before and The mouse is F/T. Should I refreeze it or just dump it in the trash?

You should only refreeze once, but some people won't even recommend that. I wouldn't, but if your low on mice and it's not gross and stiff then you could and it probably wouldn't hurt the snake when you try to feed it again.

i wouldnt refreeze it. i dont do it with defrosted meat that i eat and i wouldnt do it for my snake.

if anything maybe keep it in the fridge and try again in a day or two.

Refreezing the mouse and then thawing it again is not good, it can cause skin to tear and guts all over the place...

Okay, yeah I am gonna to throw away the mouse.

Isn't it best to wait until their next scheduled feeding if they refuse?

If the prey was only out a short time, if it's fully furred and if it was in top condition in the first place, then you're fine to re-freeze it. Do mark the freezer bag though as a re-freeze and use it up first for the next feed. If when you reheat it though it smells even the least bit funky, toss it (do this with any f/t prey refrozen or not). Usually pinkies don't do well with a refreeze as it tends to weaken their belly skin and cause exploding pinkies. :O

If there's any concern with a frozen prey though, as far as it's quality or "freshness" - best to toss it and not chance a problem for your snake.

you can spend a few bucks on another fresh mouse, or risk the chance of spending a few hundred on vet bills when your snake gets sick from a refrozen tainted one
