sad pic.. unbilical wrap (graphic)
This was pretty sad to find. We found one of our day-52 eggs that had a bunch of slits in it. Mark went to slit it, and could see that the unbilicus was wrapped around the snake inside. It must have killed the baby :( He was lifeless.. we removed him from the egg and this is what we found. I only wish that maybe we could have found this sooner and saved it, but it was too late.
There was a lot of yolk left inside, but not much liquid around the snake.

There seems to have been a few of those happening this year. It's sad nonetheless.:tears:
Re: sad pic.. unbilical wrap (graphic)
I was thinking this may have been the case with one of mine I just lost. I slid him out of the egg and it was around him tight. :(
Sorry Jen.
I will post a pic on my thread in a few of the one I am talking about.

Aw. I'm so sorry you lost the little guy. :(
Re: sad pic.. unbilical wrap (graphic)
Thanks :) Sorry about yours happening too Memes. It is tough but I am counting on those healthy eggers/pippers to bring me up some more :)

Researching after I lost one this way (first ever), I purchased NERD's book and found some information that may shed some light on the situation.
NERDS book suggests that the snakes themselves twist around in the shell.
Once I read the book, I realized that they had plenty of room to twist and turn since I had cut the eggs a bit early. It usually happens (my opinion) when we cut before enough of the egg yolk is absorbed to make it impossible for them to twist under the cord.
