Raising the temp

Well i just discovered that my temps on the cool side have dropped from 80F to 76F!!!So im getting a heat lamp to help out the heat when i need it.Plus i think when it turns winter and gets pretty cold a heat lamp maybe very useful.Your opinions?


P.S Im getting a nocturnal one so i don't disturb her night/day cycle.

Bump i need some advice here...

I have A Ceramic Heat emmiter on all the time keeps the hot side anywere from 94-98 ,a uv light during the day (althoughdoesn't really need it), And a black night light at night on the cool side helps bump the temp just a bit. But the c.h.e. Should help with an overall temp. Hope this helps and good luck-Ray

You can also use a second UTH on the cool end to help bump the temps up. :)

Same regulation advice applies as it did for the hot end.

Usually, the best way to keep the cool side up is to get the second UTH and thermostat. It's pricey but the best and most reliable way to do it, since lamps have to be so high to heat all the way to the bottom where the temps get measured that the heat at the top sucks out all the moisture.

Ahhh thats even more money though..... Looks like i'll have to buy another thermostat and UTH.For now i will use a heat emitting bulb and i would worry too much about my humidity i live in england and it is sometimes too humid here hahaha.

What I do is use a 2nd heating pad, but hook it up to a rheostat before going into the first thermostat. This way it's indirectly controlled by the thermostat. I've had nothing but good luck with that.

Another option if you can't get that rheostat/dimmer is to put the cool side heating tape an inch or so below the tub and then the warm one directly taped to the tub. Sticky furniture pads work great to raise the entire tub up off the surface and then you can play around with heat tape positions to get variance that way.

Heat bulbs tend to dry the air causing humidity problems. A second UTH helps or what I do is climate control the room with a t-stat and an oil filled heater;)
