    Python sight, red light ?
    Hi,

I was wondering if the BP can see red light ?
I was told that it is not possible for them, and I just wanted a confirmation because I would love to watch them wandering at night as they become much more active.

    Thanks

try the black lights that are available. I really like those, they seem to be darker than the red lights but still provide great viewing.

I also use the black lights gives you a GREAT view and they stay really active. Specialy when hungry they are all over the place! :) I have a Ceramic heat emitter on all the time and a timmer which swiches the night on and the day off at 9pm. It is by Zila and is the CONTROLLER POWER CENTER DIGITAL 1875WATT. Hope ant of this helps.- Ray

I was told snakes see more colors than we do. I have no idea though, I know I use an infrared and it seems to be okay.

Do the black lights give off heat?
Or are they just for viewing?

Thanks for all your answers, I think I'll definitely get a black light.

But, just like Venom, I'd like to know if it provides heat too ?
Because I have UTH that works fine by itself, and I don't need more heat.

It puts off very little heat. My cool side in the day is about 80-82 and at night it might get to 85 -86 still fine for a b.p. Hope this helps??-Ray

Blue 'moon' and black lights are much better than red. Less harsh. :)

And as far as heat output goes, just adjust the height of the fixture above your tank to lessen the amount of heat that gets to it. I like to hang lights at least 8" above a tank. Also helps with getting in and out of the tank, not having to move a light all the time. :)
