Caulker Cay Boa
I'm thinking about investing in one. The smallest dwarf boa eh:O? Can some one give me some info, or if anyone has one. Temps, aggressiveness, feeding habits, all the ups and downs. :)

Re: Caulker Cay Boa
not the smallest dwarf, but almost. I'd say they're one of the rarest insular boas in captivity, so why would you only get one? I'd get them for breeding purposes to expand the pure blooded captive population if anything (especially considering wild populations may be gone). They're Bci so basic boa caresheets work with some tweaking. They may prove to be more arboreal than say your typical Colombian and also may like cooler temps.

I agree, with them so few and far between, I urge anyone to get a pair. Just to ensure that the captive numbers stay up.

Re: Caulker Cay Boa
These guys dont get much fatter than a broom handle * a little, but not really* My BIG girl is about 4 years old and is at about 45 inches. ( a little under 4 feet) Alot smaller than a ball python, for sure.
I have three of these guys and save for the Neonate Girly they are ANGELS. As with all snakes, each one can be different, but really once i have the little girl out, shes fine. not too much fuss, and mostly shes all bluff. I see it as shes much much much smaller than me, and Im a huge big tree with grasping fingers, of course shes going to hiss and try to look bigger!
Enclosure stuff:
Temps. Keep them just like Bps and most other snakes. 85-88 hot side, and 75-78 cool side.
Include hides, they will use both.
These guys prefer to climb, if you let them. But do fine in a rack system as well. They absolutely will utilize any branches provided though if you decide to give them a more airy enclosure. * just be sure to provide plenty of floor room too*
Feeding:
Great feeders, all three of mine eat for me every time i offer food. Without hesitation, and actually have a pretty strong feeding response as well, so watch those fingers :D
I do not think there are any downs to keeping these guys, Just feed them LESS. They do not really do well on a weekly feeding schedule ( for adults at least) I feed every other week, sometimes longer. Boas do much better on a more reserved feeding regimen.

( I recommend Buying directly from Gus. Gus got all three original animals when they were first imported * no others were*, and if i recommend anyone, it will be him. )

These are my Three.
Deunan, my smallest girl Directly from RioBravo She is F1 of the original male. ( who is still alive and breeding for gus! ) A good example of how dark these guys should look, in my personal opinion.

Sha're My largest girl. Purchased from HHmoore on faunaclassifieds.
I think she is what a caulker cay should look like, and is a great example of the Wild Caught male that gus still has. ( he still kicks her butt though, but hes much much older!)

Calcifer My one and only male (purchased from JNJ), currently. Hes a sweetheart, and has some nice potential when he gets a bit older. Hopefully, he will really darken up for me. *heres to hoping*
