Easy grow out setup.
I started doing something about a month ago and have had some really good results so I thought I would share.
When I wean the baby ASF's, I seperate them into two large tubs. Males in one, Females in the other. I do this each week adding new just weined babies in with the ones from the previous weeks.
Surprisingly, they do not fight AT ALL. I think the reason they don't fight is that the males have not had sex yet... And the females have not been pregnant yet. Right now there are asf's that were weined 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 week ago in each of the 2 tubs. ASF's from the same and completely different blood lines... No fighting, and every single one that I put in the tubs is accounted for.
Is anybody else doing this? If not, give it a try, and report back with your results.

I have no problems mixing old and young, as long as they aren't from a breeding group they don't fight.

Re: Easy grow out setup.
yup must admit I do the same , large 30 x 15 glass tank , split in two equal halfs . Males go in the right side , well , males are ALWAYS right yeah ;-) , females in left hand side.
I did use plastic tubs before , got fed up chasing the wee buggers around the room !
took a leaf out of the ''American Way '' of doing it , ( glass tanks ) works a treat now ..yeeha!
Also no fighting when ( and after ) I add new weaners to the established group .
Weirdly , I have one female that has given me her third litter , each has been smaller than the last . Once she has nursed this last litter she will be ''retired'' Her first litter was 11 and her recent one was only 6 . That said , she has littered every month since June.

Re: Easy grow out setup.
Why wouldnt anyone separate them by sex when they are weaned? I suppose I figured its common sense to split them up that ways.
Mine are from largly different aged groups, and they all do just fine.

I don't separate them by sex when I wean them. I haven't had any problems. I have a large tub and every week I put weans in there. I am only feeding off 4 or so ASFs per week to the picky feeders so I have a lot of weans growing up!

Same here, when I clean tubs every week I shift them around by size and have had no problems yet.
