    new owner and kinda paranoid.
ok well i got my first ball python yesterday and im extremely excited. he has an awsome pattern and the guy i got it from said he is a month old. but i have a few questions. im using a heating pad and lamp and im still not sure if its warm enough on the warm side of his tank i have a thermometer in the tank and it goes between 80-85 degrees and the humidity goes between 55-60 is this ok? also im afraid he is going to escape even tho i have a locking lid and a brick on top just to make sure. another thing is i think his hides might be a little to big, if you could suggest any hides that would be great. also if some people could send my some pics of there enclosers too that would be appreciated, because like i said im kinda paranoid about it all and am wondering if i have it all set up right. THANKS.

welcome to the site! as for your heating pad is it hooked up to a dimmer or thermostat?they get well over 110 degrees w/o.dimmers run about 12 bucks at a hardware store but they are only affective if your room temps are steady.hides are easy to find at petco or petsmart.i like the coconut hides for hatchlings.heres a few pics of the tanks i have setup.

Looks great lenastorm, great way to suspend those lights. It never accured to me to use curtain rod brackets.

    Thats like a perfect idea!

Thanks! I have vinyl cut to size (of the screen) with holes cut out for the lights. Holds humidity like a champ :gj:
