So I got a new setup... see pics. Have a couple questions
Here is the link to my thread on the DIY part of the forum. I just went with glass aquariums instead of rack or custom idea I had.
    Linky

How are these cheapo "metal" mesh lids? Do they hold top lamp heat well (no melting).
How about covering part of one w/ plastic to maintain heat/humidity?

My ball is a big boy.... but this 20g seems to sufficient for him.

The only thing I can say about the 20g is that it's not a long, but if it seems sufficient for him and he's happier in a bit of a smaller tank then I'm sure that's acceptable for him! :]
Setup generally looks nice, if it's possible, you could try to fit another hide on the other end (and maybe get a smaller water bowl if he doesn't soak) to fit it?
If not though, I don't see a huge issue with it. After all, most tub keepers only have one hide per tub.
To keep in humidity you can foil treat it.. I think starmom is the one who has a foil treatment method that she can instruct for you. (I hope it's not someone else.. oops)

    :]
Mesh screens won't melt, don't worry.
Edit: One more thing, get some clamps for the screens, they're easier than heavy bricks and having something that heavy could pose a problem for an escapee! ^^

I keep one of mine in an aquarium also, I covered the top with aluminum foil and then taped the edges down with aluminum tape. It holds temp/humidity just fine that way

The metal tape works great for humidity. The metal tope work good as well just get the clips that are sold seprate.
Other than that it looks good.
I guess I didnt pay attention what is in the tanks? Baby BP's?

    Good luck

Oh and I have heard taht loud metal guitar music stunts the growth of your snakes.:8::D

Well, the shelving is really cool... but the tanks could use some work.

First off, they should all be shorter. BPs don't need more than 12" height at any life stage, less when they're young. 20high tanks also don't give the needed floor space that 20longs give and make it harder to stabilize temps.
Also, those hides should be shorter as well and there should always be two in tanks. Plant pots are great hides, but should be cut/melted down to about 3" high. Too much height defeats the purpose of the hide which is snug security. Large tanks are perfectly usable with some tweaking, but snug tight hides are a must in those situations.

Also, is the shelving closed? (surrounding the tanks on all sides) If so great, you don't really need to put background on for security. You might still need to insulate, tho, so keep an eye on how much the temps shift.

Metal screen lids will only melt if they are not truly metal screens. And they only warp when a high watt bulb is placed right up against them. BPs don't need lighting like that, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you really need additional lighting in that setup, hang or otherwise direct a lamp from a high point to shine on the tanks at an angle. That way the heat isn't a factor. Main heat should always come from UTHs or heat tape underneath as it is. :)

And foil is the better material on the lid, unless you're talking about vinyl plastic or plexiglass. Regular saranwrap will shrivel and melt. :)
