Housing ball and boas together?

Is it ok to house ball and boa hatchlings together in a hatchling rack? Not in the same tubs, but in the same rack.

I don't see any reason why not.

I don't know enough to say but I think I know the questions the experts will ask.

Does the hatchling rack heat the whole tub to the same temp or offer a thermal gradient?

And what are the temps in the hatchling rack?

Hopefully once they know that they can tell you for definate what the problems (if any) are likely to be.

Sure, if you want the boa to have a good meal. There have been many cases where a boa cannibalized a bp that was housed with it. Even snakes of the relatively same size.

Ball pythons temps need to be a little higher than a Bci and higher still than a Bcc and so you'd need to find the coolest tub in the rack and check the gradient.

It is a good action to qt boas for several months since they can be asymptomatic carriers of IBD which can kill your ball pythons in a period of weeks.

I have my boas in the other end of my home than where I keep the ball pythons and will continue to do so. However, were I to keep them in the same room, I would qt for 6 months.

Also, I can't imagine a boa being able to fit in a tub sized for a ball python for very long.... Just a thought though :)

Basically what I was thinking.
For a BCI the housing is pretty darn close, I don't see very much temperature difference either.
BCCs however need a lower temp. and would need a separate t-stat. Most boas will outgrow that type of rack very quickly.
