Ball Python Death

Welll I am new to this website so hi. well to start off I had just bought a baby ball python not that old i only had it for about a month and recently i had fed it after the first week i had it..it ate and everything apparently it did not digest its food right, because there was a big balloon swelling up at near its anus. I could not find why its temp. and humidity were perfect. The mouse was a pinky. It had a water bowl. A nice place to go into and feel hugged everything I could think of was perfect I had newspaper on the tank. Nothing could be stressing it..and I even put it in warm water at least three times a day and nothing. So apparently today I woke up and it was dead. Iam kinda sad seeing that I was in love in the little guy seeing it was my first snake. I guess i will now try to buy a new one maybe a little older tho. So if anyone has any they would like to donate lol or sell to me Ill take any offers :) That snake was like the best pet I ever had :(

That sucks. I wonder what was wrong with him. :confused: Where are you located?

Gas building up, the first thing I would think of is internal parasites. If you bought this from a private breeder, or pet store, they may be a little less than honest about the animals beginnings. Sounds like a wild caught animal. Can you give better descriptions of your temps and where you got the animal from?

Babys sometimes get blockages and such. Might have had everything perfect and still baby ball pythons can die.

Well I stay in Los Angeles I had it in a about 80F temp and the humidity I didnt really measure but I imagine a water bowl in there would do the trick it had a basking area of about 92F i had a hide for it. I did buy it from a pet store didnt seem like they really cared about them they were all just kinda bunched up in there I really looked at it and it was healthy at night I couldnt go to sleep cause it was moving around so that was a good sign at least for the snake lol but it would regularly drink water when I fed it its first mouse it didnt hesitate to eat this was all after I fed it. Idk what it could of been parasites i guess? I did get it for 20 bucks tho it was about almost a foot long :( this sucks tho lol i dont even have money for another one now :(

If you don't have the $20 for a new snake, how would you feed one? What's the heat source other than the lamp? How often did you feed it?
A python moving around a lot is not a good sign, although they are more active at night. Have you seen the stickys here with the info on the temp/humidity/set-ups?
I hope you can eventually get another python. But if you are a beginner keeper, you might want to stay away from "cheap" babys. Those are normally imported hatchlings that haven't yet fed. So you start out with a stressed baby that may or may not have been exposed to parasites.
Are there any local reptile shows you can attend? That's a great way to meet other reptile folks.
