How do you prevent an escape with a tub
so i'm interested in getting my snake out of his critter cage and into a tub. I read tons of info on how to heat the tub and where to get one but how does one keep a snake from ever escaping a tub and the lid?

Clips my friend... clips or invest in a rack system if you're planning on getting more BP's. Also, stacking books on top of the lid never hurts, lol.

The most secure way I've found is mini bungee cords. They work perfectly.

They don't slide off like clips can, and they're strong enough to foil even a full grown BP. :) You just have to be careful when putting on and taking off so they don't spring at you.

I use a rubbermaid tub that has a weird lid were the clips don't work terribly well and will slide off fairly easily. I don't trust them so I use a large book on top as well. I need to try some of those bungee cords...

I've been using longer bungee cords that wrap around the tank and hook back onto each other. It also lifts the tub up to provide airspace for the UTH. After 4 days, the snake's still in there. I'd find it hard to believe she could get out, considering it's not necessarily easy for me to put them on.

I have all of my snakes in tubs. They are in rack systems. I have never had one escape. If you are worried about them escaping from a rack system, you can put a stop in front and in back of the tub, so that it is impossible for them to slide the tub out.

    Hope this helps.

Here's how I stop mine from pushing the tubs out:

Yeah yeah ok...not my idea...Ralph always does everything first!:rolleye2:

But ya, I don't think ive ever really needed these anyways, none have ever tried to push out. Just gives me peace of mind.
