Eye problem (not stuck shed)
I posted this last week and had no hits. So I figured I would post it again but this time with pics. I got a large female off of kingsnake last week and when I got her I noticed her left eye is sicking out quite a bit. Well its no the eye almost like the lense itself has separated from the eye and its bulging. Well heres a pic let me know what you think. Looks almost like a large clear blister eye underneath looks fine though.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC10773.jpg its the eye on the top of the photo if any cant spot it. her other eye is completely normal. Thanks I planned on taking her to the vet saturday but they couldnt make room for me so I scheduled for this saturday. Wish I didnt have to wait. Just want to know if anyones experienced this before or heard of it. Thanks.
Re: Eye problem (not stuck shed)
Chris I'm sorry I haven't a clue what this is nor have I personally seen it with any of our snakes. I know I'd be very interested in your vets findings and what course of treatment the vet suggests as well as the final outcome of whether the eye is viable. Please keep us updated.
Re: Eye problem (not stuck shed)
with out seeing the animal itself it would be hard to say. But my first guess would be that there is or was some sort of injury to the eye.
Re: Eye problem (not stuck shed)
I wish I could remember which book or find the one I have but I have seen this referenced in a bp book I once had it is listed as some sort of eye disease I cannot find a single reference online for it though. :( Oh well we will see saturday Thanks for the replies. :)
Re: Eye problem (not stuck shed)
Hi,
The only thing I can find is in "the ball python manual" page 61.
Enlarged and bulging eye(s) - Infected eye; glaucoma; trauma - See a veterinarian. This ailment requires proffesional diagnosis and likely needs topical and systemic medications.
