Would You Trust A Cedar Reptile Cage?
I sent him a question regarding the fact that cedar is toxic to reptiles. We'll see what he says.

That's nuts. Humans are a fascinating creature.

Even if for some reason that enclosure isn't toxic to reptiles in some way it really just doesn't seem useful. It has tons of height like you would use for an arboreal species but no perches or anything and for a terrestrial species it really doesn't have a whole lot of floor space. Nobody accused that seller of being a genius ...

accually on another forum site i was talking about a similar subject...

cedar can be used, if it has multi layers (about ten or so) of water based polyurathane.... <-- spelling?

but i seriously wouldnt risk it...

If the wood is sealed it isn't a problem... and he states it is...

    *Interior sealed for animal safety.

He did not advertise it as a BP cage, so that is up to the buyers to decided what they are housing in it.

I do not see anything wrong with it.

I guess it's my nature to err on the side of caution. To each his own. He did say reptile though.

Let's see...... a sun cage with glass on four sides......hmmmm can you say mircowave? How about magnifying glass?

The cedar itself is not of sufficient quantity to make it dangerous. With the chips there is more contact with the snake, they get wet and can be ingested.

Why he used cedar though is a good question. It's got to be more expensive than pine or fir, yet he's selling pretty cheap.

It also says that the inside is sealed, I wonder if the outside is as well. As far as I know, shipping glass is a pain in the rear as well.

I'm more inclined to favor suncages made of screen instead of glass. Afterall, glass does filter out the light you're putting your reptile in the sun to get.

Oh well, maybe he'll correct the errors.
