    Breeders dirty secrets?
Are there some things done behind close doors that they don't want the outside world to know?

Just like puppy mills. They have a lot of shady stuff going on.

    Quite interested.

[Keep in mind that this thread is not claiming that anything is being done but along the lines of just asking.]

Oh Im very very positive there is. From things like disinfectants to mite control, and paper to substrate.

I'm positive there are. But it's unlikely we'll ever hear about most of it.

Theres not really much that can be done to make snake breeders similar to a puppy mill. Unless your never cleaning the cages and letting diseases spread.
Puppymills and Kittenmills are hated because a female is kept in a small cage for 15 years and are bred over and over until they die in very very small cages.

What hidden secrets could there be?

Well, there will always be ethical people and less ethical people and downright shady people. So I'd imagine bp breeders fit in all of those categories.

As for puppy mills, they are by definition shady and unethical from top to bottom. It's not that they are doing surprising things behind closed doors. EVERYthing about puppymills is awful. Breedings dogs without knowledge of genetic diseases, without knowledge of pedigrees and temperament issues, breeding without CARING about those things. Then breeding animals that never see a walk or lay next to their family in a home. Leaving them in cages for their entire lives. Letting them be sick and injured and die alone. Brining puppies into those conditions and raising unhealthy animals-- genetically and environmentally-- to live lives of pain. Not giving puppies the right start in life so they can be good canine citizens that have a PRAYER of staying with their families and having a good life. Selling those puppies to buyers who have no CLUE about puppies but have the right amount of money. Yep. Top to bottom, BAD. Annnd, buying a dog from a puppymill or from a petsotore encourages more of the same.

I highly DOUBT there is a puppymill equivalent in snakes. They dont' have the same needs as dogs.

RAR. Didn't know that vent was in there waiting to get out today...
