what are the laws for cali on reptiles?

No hots, pretty much.

Everything else is fair game, although it depends on the district in which you live specifically

Actually I thought it was legal to keep 2 of any species NATIVE to California.

Nah theres no limit to any snake other than the before mentioned hots, and California local reptiles.
