When to move up cage size
At what point do I need to move my boa out of the cb70 and into the 4 by 2 enclosure. Also, I hear differences as to whether a female requires a 4 or 6 foot cage. A 6 foot cage is pretty huge considering my snakes usually just curl up. I am planning to pick up an animal plastics t10 soon and wondered how soon I would need it.
Re: When to move up cage size
Just got her out and measured here. Bad idea. I should learn not to mess with snakes in the middle of the night. Got a pretty sweet little bite. I'll post a pic. I measured her though once she calmed down. I think she is right about at 4 feet. I think it might be time to bump up in cage size.
Re: When to move up cage size
This girl has tagged me twice. Once was eh ... while I was at school not sure if it was during the fall or spring. I posted a topic about it then so I could probably figure out where it was. Here is the first bite.

Here is the most recent bite picture from her. Not too bad. She got the bottom of my thumb too although you cannot see that in the picture.

I'll get an updated picture of her up here tomorrow. I'm curious as to what people think of her weight. I want to make sure I am feeding her enough but not too much. Enjoy!
EDIT: Not sure if you can tell but she tagged me twice very quickly. One bite and then I think her jaw spread out and one more. Either that or she bit me then slid sideways slightly and bit me again. Not sure which. Too fast for me to be able to tell. LOL.
Re: When to move up cage size
Ouchie!
Quick question: what is her girth? If she is obviously looking cramped in the CB70, I would just place an order for a cage when you get the funds, if she still looks comfortable, just save up for a bit
Re: When to move up cage size
I usually move them up to a 4x2 when they hit the 4/4.5 range. Before that they are in a tub that is roughly 3x1.5. That size will do well for her for a good while. Really big girls will need a 6 foot enclosure, and when she hits the 7' mark or so you may want to look into it.
Re: When to move up cage size
Sorry about the delay. My camera is 4 years old and has started this thing where it has lines across the screen so I had to borrow my dads. Here are a couple pictures of her. Here she is in a cb70 and a couple just looking around. How do you think she is in that tub and what do you think of her weight? Everything looking OK?

Re: When to move up cage size
Her weight looks fine to me, she's filled out well and proportionate.
As for the tub, she's getting close to needing a larger enclosure, but in my opinion there's no rush at the moment.
