ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
well this is more or less just a funny story one of my friends has a approx 10ft argentinian and i was holding it the other day and another of my friends decided it would be a good idea to get face to face with the snake ( he was obviously quite intoxicated at this point) when quicker than anyone could react the snake struck out and tagged him right on the face it was hillarious to see i had my hand about a foot from the snakes head and the rest of his body was coiled around my arm and the look on my buddies face was priceless he was by the way relatively unharmed just some pretty deep pin pricks and some blood
Re: ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
It goes without saying that it's usually never a great idea to handle snakes while intoxicated. =) Personally my biggest fear is that I won't get the enclosure closed correctly...
*cough* Not to say I get intoxicated...er...um...
I'm glad to hear that your friend wasn't hurt, but I humbly recommend leaving the snakes be next time just in case something worse happens...;)
Re: ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
Many animals (especially cats) hate the smell of alcohol and have been known to attack people with alcohol on their breath. Maybe this is the case with your friends snake.
Re: ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
i figured that might have been a contributing factor with the snake but i wasnt aware that cats reacted that way... hmm maybe ill test the theory with my cats.. lol j/k im not that stupid
Re: ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
i've often wondered how often people have a few drinks and play with their snakes... and how many times it results in a bite. :)
i always joked to myself that next time i have some people over i should wait till they're a few beers deep and see who will try to hand feed one of the big females.

A guy I work with keeps trying to get me to let him come over, get drunk, and get bit on purpose by one of my angrier bloods.
I don't get it.
Needless to say I'm never letting him come to the house, lol

Is this true? If so, I wonder what it is about the smell of alcohol that makes them bite??
Re: ever been bitten by a 10ft argentinian?
Wouldn't you attack a skunk that sprated you?

i know for a fact that dogs dislike the smell too. i know a few dogs that act out in this manner against intoxicated people. doesnt matter the breed. rotts, miniature breeds of assorted dogs, and dalmations and greyhounds. lots of them can easily smell the alcohol and either dont like it or w/e but for some reason some just act out.
