Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
I've been perusing on kingsnake lately and I've heard two promising accounts from two different sellers. One states that they have Graziani Cinnamons for sale and that they don't make supers or silver bullets with the funny faces. The other one states that they have black pastels from Ian G. that also don't make funny looking supers or silver bullets.
I was a big fan of the super cinny/black pastel the moment I saw it, but the face deformities have persuaded me to stay away from them for the time being. I've never seen a super cinny in person and really don't understand what is meant by 'platypus face' so I don't trust myself in picking out a good cinnamon yet.
Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone has any info on this. The prospect of a deformless super cinny is awesome, I just want to know if there is any hard truth to it. Thanks! :)
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
The head of the super looks like a platypus(Bill). Platypus is an animal, check the internet you will find a photo:snake:
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
Yes, I know what a platypus is: Austrailian freaky creature, mammals that lay eggs, males have poisionus spurs. I know. But when I look at pictures of super cinny's I just don't see the comparison. Chalk it up to the untrained eye.
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
I will not post pictures of other peoples animals to show the problems that Super Black Pastel’s and Black Pastel Silver Streaks (Homozygous Black Pastel Heterozygous Pastel) have but here are some pictures of a Graziani line Silver Bullet (Homozygous Cinnamon Heterozygous Pastel) to show that they do not have the problem. The nose on the Black Pastel Super’s is much bigger and out of proportion making it look duckbilled.

I hope this helps.:gj:
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
Those are great looking pythons. I can definetely tell they don't look deformed. It's nice to have graziani's line verified by a name like Albey ;) Thanks a bunch!
There's hope for the super cinny's after all
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
WOW!! That snake ROCKS!! :headbang:
Well done, Albey.....
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
I remember reading somewhere (was probably kingsnake or ralph davis's forums) that when mixed with another gene the super form of the cinnamon/black pastel doesn't have the duck bill problem -- regardless of line. It only seems to show up in plain old super cinnamons or super black pastels. Maybe someone else has more information on this, or even better, some first hand experience.
Albey, do your regular super cinnamons get the duck bill?

I follow all of the Forums pretty closely and particularly when it involves any discussion of Black Pastels and Cinnamons. I have never read that any where but it doesn’t mean it couldn’t be true. I do know that Ralph posted on his Forum that "all" of the Super forms of Black Pastels and Cinnamons had in his words “tweaked little faces” so when I hatched out the one above Ralph was one of the first people I sent pictures of it to. I received the following email back from Ralph. Of course in true Ralph fashion he had to mess with me a bit. LOL

Here are the pictures of him in the egg that Ralph liked so much.

Unfortunately out of the two clutches I could have hatched out a Supper Cinnamon in I missed on them. I will be going for them again this year and will have the Silver Bullet Male to use so my chances should be much better. We will see but I am betting that they will be perfect.
Re: Cinnamon/Black Pastel supers
Yeah, Ralph is where I had heard that all Super Cinny's were pretty much doomed to have funny faces. I'm glad you proved him wrong. :D

I really hope you do. I would LOVE to see a proven line of super-cinnies without the deformities. :gj: I see it as kind of the same thing as what's going on with the caramel albinos. A few people claim to have deformity-free lines, but I haven't actually come across any hard proof of it yet -- just "so and so said this" and "whats his name has that."
