    Siamese rat genetics
I am hoping to pick up a siamese female in a few months, and I was wondering the genetics on them, I know it depends on the mom and dad, but what will I get if I breed a siamese female to a beige hooded male?

    either black or beige rats...
Siamese is recessive, unless paired with an albino.

    Holy cow! Rat genetic overload!!:O

Sweet, I want some black and beige babies! I guess a himilaya(sp) is a albino siamese cross? How do you tell the difference?

Himalayans have lighter points, and are white as babies and get slightly darker with age.

Siamese are dark as babies and get lighter with age.

LOL, I'll upload some now. ;)

This is a pic of 3 siamese, one is a russian blue siamese and resembles a himalayan. The darkest one is much older and darker, during this hot summer though, her ears have lost most of the dark coloring, and she is not looking as nice as this pic.

They are all females, and won't be as nice and dark as males either...

Hope that helps a little... Once you get your first siamese, you'll never mistake them again.

One of the first rats I got (from the pet store) to start my rat colony was a Siamese. She's been gone for almost a year and I never really saw a baby that looked like her. I'm sure I still have someone from her blood line so is there a chance that a Siamese could pop up in a litter?

Siamese are my favorite and I just lucked out getting her.

    I'd say very possible!

If you see any like this, they are siamese, notice the light fading effect towards the head area... The himalayan is the lighter white looking ones. Mom was a himalayan dumbo.
