    Re: rheostat ?
Yes you can although it will only work well in a room that has constant temperatures. If you're room temps flucuate throughout the day or at night then its not going to be the best option for you.

You can make a rheostat work with alot of tweaking but I just about a month or so got a Herpstat and have never looked back.

    http://www.spyderrobotics.com/ or
    http://www.thebeanfarm.com/

Spyder is direct but Dion only uses Paypal so if you have paypal you can go that route and if you don't The Bean Farm is also a good route to go both are top notch.

    Good luck! :salute:

Don't buy the one from ZooMed, I tried that one and it didn't work for me, invest in something better.

I made my own and it worked great until I got a thermostat
got the double gang/electrical box and wired in 2 plugs on one side to the dimmer on the other
plug it in and then plug the heat mats into the outlets in your rheostat box and with trial and error got them right on!. You need a probed thermometer directly on the glass in the middle of your heat pad. Total project cost was under 20.00 (mine was about 25 as I got a higher priced dimmer)
