My cousin can't decide what kind of lizard he wants... help?
Well, the title says it all. My younger cousin went to a Reptile Expo with me today and while I was looking at their ball pythons, he got really interested in buying some sort of lizard. He's got it narrowed down to a few (Bearded Dragon, Leopard Gecko, Chinese Water Dragon, and Mali Uromastyx) so I would love it if you could post links to different care sheets/info/breeders of a few of these kinds of lizards or other lizards that you think that would be a good starter herp. =D
Oh, and he's 9 and has never owned a lizard before so try and post things that would be pretty calm but 'cool', his definition of cool being that they don't stand still all day. ;)

I have had all kinds of lizards and by far my fav is a water dragon.
they are super active and have such personality.

they do require a large enclosure though.

:D Thanks. That's what I was trying to convince him to get! I'll show it to him as soon as possible.

I wouldn't reccomend a water dragon for a 9 year old, unless a more experienced adult will be taking care of it for him.

    Why, because it gets big?
Big animals may not always mean harder animals. Usually with snakes they do involve more experience, but water dragons I've heard to be pretty docile and interesting. I haven't heard of many difficulties with them.

Sweet and small bearded dragons are wonderful too!

Personally, I disagree with you. I got my CWD when I was nine years old and he was perfectly taken care of. I researched about him for about 6 months before hand and he's completely healthy right now. ;) He's a sweetheart and I love him to death. I really think he is a great beginner pet. :D

Yeah, that's what he originally wanted to get but I wasn't sure if it would be very easy to handle as a baby which would be a must for him. =)

CWD's make wonderful pets, are very docile and friendly, but it can be hard to provide the proper setup for them. Especially since they need such a large enclosure when full grown. I would recommend it, but only if someone knows what their care envolves BEFORE purchasing the lizard.

i would not recommend a bearded dragon to a nine year old, way to much work and there has to be alot of money long term involved for crickets and updateing tanks.
