    repti bark
    is reptile bark a good substrate ive heard pretty good but ive also heard that It has red die in it a bunch of chemicals, artificial coloring and is a great place for mold. so should switch to something else?

    I would say switch. I believe reptile bark is pine, pine is not recomended for balls. I would use newspaper,cypress,or aspen in the order of my personal preference.

    im toast1234567, but in your comment i meant to say repti bark instead of reptile bark think its different

    well in the pet store there was this stuff that was in crude block form and very red and un-natural that said reptile bark and then there was tis stuff that said repti-bark thats said 100% fir bark on the front and looked more brown than red.

    I had gotten a bag of repti-bark by I think zoo-med which was loaded with mites. I'm sticking with apsen from now on. And, it's much easier to see the dirties than it is in the bark.

    I have repti-bark in my BP tank right now, but I will be changing it over to Aspen once I get my RTB here.

    I liked it at first, but I rather have the lighter look is Aspen.
    And Aspen is easier to spot clean.

    I've never experienced it myself, but I've heard stories of people's repti bark being infested with mites. I wouldn't take the risk.
