one thing i've seen a lot of members recommend is to make sure your snake is on newspaper, not something like reptibark or ecoearth. i've never had to deal with scale rot personally, so hopefully some more experienced members can chime in.

As simple a setup as possible. Paper on the bottom, water dish, and a hide.

    Thats it.

    Monitor him very very carefully.

If you put vasoline on his belly, try and make sure that the paper doesn't get caught up in it.

    Hi,

Yes it's normal - when they are injured they tend to go through shed cycles as part of the healing process.

It may cause a little bit of localised damage during shedding but overall it will be a positive thing. Just keep a close eye on it and apply any topical treatments recomended by the vet to any small areas of damage.

Anyone have any tips to share on the humidity level while shedding on an animal with scale rot? I'm having a senior moment and can't bring any relevant info to mind.

I treated one animal with a belly burn/scale rot and was told absolutely no soaking. I changed the water bowl to something that she couldn't soak in. The humidity in her cage was greatly reduced (this was the winter). She ended up with stuck shed, but with betadine belly scrubs and shots, the burn/rot healed up without a problem.

I was able later to work on the stuck shed with a damp rag and get it off.

how long did the burn/rot take to heal? he's also drinking plenty of water.i guess that's a good thing isn't it.i haven't tried feeding monty and he hasn't eaten for a month although i don't think this is a major problem is it
