so, how many people have bred ksb's?
well, next year i want to try...

but i dont really know how to go about it...

    i have a few questions...

    -what size tank to use
    - what substrait
    - how big should they be... "full grown im assuming"
    - do they lay live like other boas?

If you don't know this then you shouldn't be breeding them.

I WANT TO MAYBE IN THE FUTURE.

trust me, im not jumping into anything.
the last thing i want is a clutch that i have no idea what to do...

OH FYI, TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS, I FOUND THAT THEY HAVE LIVE BABIES SO I ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION...

but still if anyone who has bred these, and would give me tips...

I keep mine in groups of 1.2 or 1.3. They are kept in 10 gal tanks, though I am going to either go to a rack system or 15 gal tanks because they are getting some good size.

I keep them on sand, 3 to 5 inches deep with a 25 watt red bulb over one end of the tank. The bulb is always on.

    They breed every year.

The only drawback is that sometimes the mother giving birth is so hungry that she eats some of her babies if I'm not there right when she has them. I've had that happen a couple of times.

I don't know if that is particular to the females I have or if it is common with KSBs, but I try to watch mine pretty carefully. It's tough with live-bearers though. There isn't a whole lot of warning before they pop.

    It's easy and neat.

    Good luck.

    thanks!
they would be my first snake to breed...
and they seemed semi-easy to do, and they dont get real big so it seemed like a good snake to start with.

    thank you.

ill keep researching, and id love tips and experiences from everyone if they can!

    thanks!

I don't like sand, it's dusty and can cause problems with their respiratory system from the sand that we buy from petstores.
I would assume the repti-sand is probably ok, but I use this zoo-med desert mix thats made up of walnut shells, so far no problems and its real easy to clean, nice looking, and they like it (I've heard a lot of good things about it with KSBs).
I know that a 20gal is good for a female and a 10gal is good for a male, as males don't get as big. Some people can house them in smaller cages though and they don't seem to mind as long as they have burrowing room. (usually about twice as much deep as their body width is fine. I set up my tank with more than that though)
    :] Good luck!

Also, that was unnecessary. FFL was asking questions of advice for the future, which is what this forum is all about.
If you don't have anything constructive or important to say in regards of the question, don't say anything at all.

    i also use desert mix.
i used sand when i first got them, and i found it was messy, and stuck to them and wasnt the best f0or them....
