No...........sometimes when there on meds they can bloat so don't worry to much but if the vet is good with snakes he/she can relieve the gas ...... what meds is your snake on ????????

Is this a vet who is experienced and knowledgeable in treating snakes? Or simply a kind-hearted dog&cat vet who is giving it their best shot? Did they say WHY they think the snake is bloating and why they believe it can't be treated?

I would highly suggest trying to get a second opinion from a reputable herp vet before taking such a drastic step as euthanization.

Wish I could be more help. :(

When you say bloated, did you read that thread on protozoa, where the baby snakes were becoming bloated? The guy took it to his vet and the vet had no clue, until another poster here mentioned protozoa and it turns out the whole batch was infected with it and dying (until they received meds).

yes I did read that post thanks but I do not think that is the case since this is a for sure CB snake and over a year old plus did not bloat till after the meds but if it does not go away I will try the flagil anyway

My little dude is still ill. He was put on two different antibiotics but they have not helped. He is still bloating and cannot defecate on his own. The vet sent him home with me and just told me to make him comfortable while he is still around. The vet was able to call around and there are a LOT more baby snakes out there having this issue. He thinks a distributor of snakes from Africa sent over something nasty with a big shipment of snakes. I should probably update my thread with this.

I hope your pied did not come into contact with one of these snakes along the way.
