My new male pastel (Grazaini line)DUW
I am so excited I got my little boy a few days ago. He has eaten and settled down nicely. We dubbed him feisty as he bit myself and one of my roommates and struck at my other roommate on his first day here. He line is the Garazaini line, dose that mean he will brown out as he gets older? I love the blushing on him.
Here are some photos of him.

he's pretty! you should probably give him some time to settle in before handling, though! probably why he's so snippy!

His blushing is very nice! Can't tell you about the browning, I'm not familiar with those pastels...

    He is very handsome! Congrats.

Educated guess... that band of dark that is over the dorsal and sides will darken up. But the band of yellow below that will stay bright.

And with the blushing on his dorsal, it does not look that bad, I think of it as being akin to crushed velvet. :)

I think he will age nicely. If you are breeding him, just a bit of selective breeding and you can end up with babes that retain the yellow and lighten up the `tipping`.

Give him his week of acclimation and enjoy the new addition. :)

    Congratulations on your new pastel!!!

As for browning - he won't brown because he's a Graziani. When choosing a pastel, you want to look for one with the least amount of orange that you can - because orange does turn brown.

Just by looking at the pictures of him - he does look like he will brown as he ages - but that doesn't make him any less special!

Thanks all. I am going to breed him to my high yellow female. I have tucked him away so he can take his time adjusting.

    They never do. :)

I should have noted that by darkening up I meant... her black should darken, but will not brown.

I have a Graziani male and he is just black and yellow... no browning whatsoever.
