peach throated monitor

what makes a peach throat? is it a nile morph, some kind of hybrid or have its own classification. im confused cuz ive seen a couple completely diff looking ones

A peachthroat monitor is a peachthroat monitor no morph. Varanus jobiensis.
They are a indo species of monitor.

Yea peach throats, blue tails, and mangroves are similar.
I dont like thoes 3 very much because they HATE being handled have long nails, screw your hands up, and are fast and hard to handle, and they wont hessitate to bite.
Some peach throats are nice I have been seeing their are a lot more CBB babys.

you're supposed to "build a relationship" with monitors, if you will, not just snatch them up and try to restrain them, so I don't know why handling or claws would be a problem. They're somewhat nervous partially arboreal monitors anyway, and varanids in general are more of a display creature.

I think bonheki was just referring to the more common monitors out there, peachthroats, blue tail, and mangroves. Whom often are labeled as being in that more 'flighty' monitor group along with the niles, trees, and crocodiles. I know there are some dog tame species of these but these usually are described as being more 'temperamental.'
Where as whitethroats, blackthroats, savannahs, spineytailed, and water monitors are often described as being more tolerable to handlings. And I know I have seen some of these before that I swear would eat me if given the chance.
The peachthroat just usually falls into that group of monitors who tend to be MORE flighty on average than others.... :salute:

yes, it makes sense, and yes, they are considered more flighty than others, but my point was, monitors aren't a take out and play with sort of animal

im not looking to get one. thanks for all the great info tho. there is one at the place i work at and everyone is calling it a peach throat but it looks like really bright nile to me but with less rows of dots down his back. he only has 5 and most niles have more than 7 i believe (there is a name for them but i forget what it is) i will try and get some pics but like you guys said they are jerks haha and so is this one. hes only bout 7 inches tho
