anyone rebound? i could use some work out advice...
I just got a bellicon rebounder... the porsche of rebounders. What a treat it is!!! I am loving this experience. I love that I can rebound for 10 minutes here and there in my day and stay fit, get a great cardio work out and be gentle on my joints all at the same time!
Of course my main motivation is the lymphatic system and how the rebounder detoxes it. I pretty much never have break outs anymore and I have a tiny little pimple under my nose this morning. I've been using my rebounder a lot since it came two days ago.
What I'm wondering is... can I simply grab myself a couple weights and discontinue going to the gym now that I have this? I know you are supposed to 'change up your workout' every 6 weeks... but honestly, it seems my workout would continue to be different every time I get on this thing! So wouldn't that be a mute subject???
I'd love to save on the costs of my gym membership and just stay at home and workout. It works so much better for my lifestyle and fits in nicely when the magazine is on a deadline and I'm working long continuous hours. Taking a short 10 minute rebounding break will be easy to do. Going to the gym for an hour is not.
So... what do you all think?
Here's a link to some videos on QiBounding:

Of course I also have my Nia DVDs... and I go to yoga twice a week as well.

Staying fit is very important to me. As most of you know, I've released over 130 pounds in the last 10 months and I don't ever want to see them again LOL - but I also don't want to waste money on a gym membership if I can get a good well-rounded workout at home. I'm very motivated, so it's not the "don't workout at home cause you won't do it" thing with me. Trust me on this :gj:
I currently do a few weights - mostly 10 pounds for my chest and arms - a few lunges. Nothing too major to be honest. At the gym I mostly work out on the cardio machines for an hour and then do my weights every second day. Yoga is my main focus... love yoga!!!
So what do you think?

I've never even heard of rebound but I looked at your links and it looks fun!
I just got the Wii Fit and I love it. Every day I dread exercise but once I start I don't want to stop.
Re: anyone rebound? i could use some work out advice...
Never heard it called a rebound before...I always called it a mini-tramp, but anyway I have one too. It is a great workout. I do continue to go to the gym though too. It's different for everyone, for me the mini-tramp doesn't accomplish everything I need, hence why I still go to the gym. If you are looking to increase heart rate and get a decent cardio workout while burning a moderate amount of calories I would say you are on the right track. If you are looking to tone and build lean muscle I would continue with your gym membership as well. It all depends on your goals ;)
I wish you luck!

thanks! i am looking to create lean muscle mass... but don't rebounders do that? especially when using a high quality one like i have???
if you go into the videos... i believe it's the one with the desert pic that talks about how it increases muscle mass all over your body.

Yeah they will create some lean body mass if you are somewhat de-conditioned. Nothing will be more effective at adding LBM than weight training. I would say that this is more of an aerobic workout, like cardio.
the best thing you could by would be resistance bands or a small set of dumbells. you can hit every are of your body with bands, I especially reccomend them for women or anyone who does not want to hit the gym or be in the weight room.
Here are some resistance bands.

I rebound after every breakup!:P
Seriously though, I would kill myself on anything remotely like a trampoline.

In order to create lean muscle mass you need resistance (ie. free weights or bands) and unfortunately the "rebound" does not provide that. You may get a slightly more toned look to your body as you burn off fat, but the only muscles getting a real workout will be your legs. For a full body workout I would consider trying to go to the gym at least one day a week for strength/muscle training and use the rebound 2-3 days a week for a cardio workout.
