prey size for 10 month old corn
Ive been snakesitting a 10 mt old corn, owner has had him on a pinky mouse every 7 days(i think its not enough), im new to this though, so what size prey should the average 10 mt old be on roughly, and how many per feed?. going off his girth i know is a good indication for the right prey size, id say he is about the thickness of a lady's pinky finger.

I have 10 month olds and they are capable of taking hoppers now.
Re: prey size for 10 month old corn
It all depends on the snake. I have a yearling corn who's still the size of a hatchling and takes large pinks small fuzzies (only fed maintenance diet with breeder). One the other side, I have a 10 month old corn who takes hoppers. Growth rates (the small one is a REALLY slow grower) also play a part.
Based on girth, the prey should be about half again the diameter of the snake's middle. Based on your comparison, I would suggest at least moving up to fuzzies.
Re: prey size for 10 month old corn
Can't really base prey sizes off age. Snakes are just like people and grow at different rates. One snake at 10 months might need this prey size, another might need that prey size.
The easiest (and I think the best) is to feed it something that is 1.5x's the widest part of its body. So if it's the width of a pinky finger, then feed it something thats 1.5x's as wide. Probably a large fuzzy or a small hopper. I bump up to the next prey size when the lump is no longer visible. And every 7 days is fine for a schedule.

Thanks for the posts and advice. Yep like you say , cant really base prey size on age. He seems to be getting longer not thicker as he grows.
Thanks Scott

They do that at first. He'll get pretty long and then start to thicken. Completely normal.
