new ball python feeding dilemma
i just got a month old bp and she was feeding live at the breeder but now i wan to switch. and the guy chose her for me because she had such a great feeding response that he would easily switch
but if he doesn't i dont know where i can get small enough live mice to feed a 16inch bp?
Re: new ball python feeding dilemma
Before attempting to switch I would recommend you to keep feeding live for at least 4 to 6 feedings.
Once your BP is well established you can attempt to switch, but for now the priority is to get him to eat for you with consistency.
Petco and pet stores specialized in reptiles have small mice available.
You can try to switch F/T now however there is no guaranty it will work especially with a young not well-established animal.
Re: new ball python feeding dilemma
Do what Deborah said, but if you really want to switch over let the mouse thaw out for a couple hours in the same room as the snake. This way the snake will smell the mouse and become more likely to eat. Then thaw the mouse out in hot water so that the mouse is warm. Use tongs and wiggle the mouse (I hold them by the tail) a couple inches away from the snakes face. If the snake is interested she should follow the movement of the mouse and should eventually strike. If she does not take it you can try leaving it in the cage for an hour or so and she if she takes it then. However if she does not eat leave her alone for a week and then try to feed her again. Hope this helps.

thanx so much im going to try to switch now just because idk where i could get a live pinki or fuzzi. but if he doesn't il try live as soon as i can.
Re: new ball python feeding dilemma
wait i put the partially frozen mouse into the cup of hot water right away. is that bad should i just let it sit out rather than using the cup.
