I am also new to snakes, but I was just looking through your photobucket pictures and I was curious:

    1. What are you doing for heat?
    2. Do you only have one hide or do you have two hiding places?
    3. What is the temperature of your warm side vs. cool side?

Very cute! What are you doing for humidity? I know it can be hard sometimes to keep humidity up in glass terrariums w/ screen tops unless some alterations are made.

And not sure what type of wood that is.. it looks like the grapevine wood (I think thats what it was) that I used to get for my tarantulas - if it is than just watch out for mold - I had to stop using it in all of my cages with humidity.

Hi There! Looks like a happy, well fed ball python!

    Just a few suggestions:

--For more security you may want to cover the back of the aquarium with black paper (it also adds a nice look...I actually just spray painted the back when I used to have fish..do this outside without the python in there). If he ever has trouble eating, go ahead and do the two sides with black paper too...it will make him feel more secure.

--It's hard to tell from the pictures, but you definitely want identical hides on the hot and on the warm side. This is important so he doesn't have to choose between safety and temp.

--As another poster said, we should get a good look at the humidity in there. Aquariums are notoriously hard to keep humid. My suggestion would be to pick up a digital thermometer with a probe (for hot/cold side) and digital humidity gauge.

It looks pretty good for the most part, those are just some details that might help. Nice BP! :gj:

Yeah, the humidity are pain in the ass but so far but I got it stabilized after my roommate suggested I wet paper towels with foil over the screen. It helped with the humidity and temps but it still low in high 40's. I have 2 same hide on hot (94 degree) and cold side (82 degree).

As some one mentioned, blacking out the back and sides of the tank is great idea! I am gonna do that right after this.

    Thanks guys!
