They don't all go as planned
There are many great web sites out that offer advice on how to breed Ball Pythons, 8Ball, Markus Janus, RDR. But the one thing I have learned this year is that they don't all go as planned or as many breeders like to show. Now this is not to say that most animals don't follow the pattern but some don't. I had both of the girls I bred this year be a fantastic learning experience and I wanted to share my very limited experience so that it might help someone else down the road or just give the full time breeders a laugh.

My first clutch this year was produced from a normal to a Pastel breeding. my first lock with this pair was in Jan. she only locked 5 -6 times then OVY! and laid right on time. But she was a quick girl her eggs just hatched Saturday so its been 6 months for first lock to babys.

Now the other girl..:rage: she locked in Dec- Jan. She has locked every time with my spider male..:(:(:(...

    She would bowl wrap

    And lock

    And bowl wrap

    And lock

For months it went like this.

Well a few weeks ago she started the glow.

    Then the build

    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4814.jpg

And then she really got to glowing.

    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4839.jpg

    And even a NEON GLOW
    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4896.jpg

    And then some more locking
    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4810.jpg

And at long last OVY!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:
    It started small.
    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4784.jpg

    And grew.
    http://www.wildmorphs.com/uploads/Br...h/DSCF4892.jpg

    And GREW!

    and GREW

    Till she was GINORMUS!!!

So from Dec till this Saturday it took 25 locks and 7 months to get this girl to go..Any one thinks this crap is easy needs a reality check..

    Now lets see some spiders.

Those website give great info but the best info comes from the snakes. They go when they are ready, not necessarily when you are. I have animals still locking up. I think Tracy Barker summed it all up when she said listen to your snakes. It could be July and they may go off feed and tell you they are ready. You just gotta know how to listen and have a boyfriend waiting.

Great job Ed, hope you see lots of spider girls:gj:
