    new baby RTB is active!
I just picked up a new baby Red Tail Boa (my first!). Hes a BCI, I'm pretty excited to join the world of boas. I'll get some pictures up soon.

Anyways, so I gave him 3 hides in his tub in different sizes to see what he would want to go with... but in the past 15 hours he has just been exploring his new 15 quart world. He hasnt gone into the hides once!

Is this normal? I've got two ball pythons and its rare to see them out of their hides so seeing this guy wandering around all day was a big surprise.

Two of my bci's have never used hides, even though they were offered. The third seldom uses her hide and prefers to burrow in the aspen part of her cage ;)

He'll probably stop wandering around so much when he figures everything out. In my experience most stop using their hides in time, but I still provide them to babies so they have the option.

On the flip side, my 2 year old BCC is rarely outside of her hides, even though they aren't hides anymore, but hats...

Every snake is different, so offer hides and if he doesn't use them, then there ya go...=)

I wonder if the difference is between the snakes being bci and bcc, or if it is a difference of personality? I don't own a bcc which is why I'm wondering...
