temp probe?

Where and How do you have your temerature probe secured in relation to your tubs?

I have mine lying in a tub, but have a hard time getting it to read accurately? I'm trying to figure out a way to secure it outside the tub and get a more accurate reading with my temp gun with respect to the actual temp shot at the bottom/inside of the tub. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Which probe are you referring to? The thermoSTAT or the thermoMETER? The stat probe is best taped directly to the underside of the heat pad outside and underneath the tub so it can't be moved or affected by the snake.
The thermometer probe to read temperatures in the enclosure has to stay inside the enclosure. A good method is to place the probe under the substrate under the warm side hide, then have the hide holding down the probe wire. You'll still have to adjust it, of course, when the snake moves it, but at least you'll know (and can confirm with a temp gun) that you are reading lower temps because the snake moved the probe.

I haven't yet, other than hot-gluing the thermometer probe to the bottom of the tub (which would affect cleaning), found a way to truly secure the meter probe inside the enclosure. Of course, tape is a big no-no! If anyone out there has a good way that isn't 'permanent'...let me know. :)

The only time I put a thermometer probe in the tub is when setting up a rack and "burning" it in. After it regulates a given temperature on the bottom that I am looking for at least 48 hours it is done. Then I just shoot it with the temp gun regularly. The T-stat probe is either glued into a groove in the bottom of a slot in the rack or pinched between the flex watt and bottom of the tub. The key I have found to maintaining a temp is a rack that encloses the tub on 5 of the 6 sides. Leaving a short side as the only exposed side is even better.
