How to secure lid on tub terrarium?
I'm picking up a red tail boa on Sunday and have a tub for him. (Sterilite 1884). I'll be upgrading him to a 3'x2'x1' snake rack in less than a year.
Anyways, the sides of the tub (especially in the middle) where there are no latches seem to not have the tightest fit. If I apply a few pounds of force upward with my fingers I can create a little bit of a gap. What do you guys do? Thanks a bunch!

Jason, you can use large black binder clips, C clamps, a bungee cord, etc. I'd probably go with the strongest option as boa's are pure muscle and are very interested usually in exploring life outside their enclosures.

I was thinking about going with a bungee cord for my bp, just to be safe.

i've used large binder clips, bricks, rocks, and nylon straps with clips... all seem to work well, but sometimes binder clips won't grip a sterilite tub, depending on the model. binder clips probably look the least ridiculous and are easy enough to remove.

We've used the large size binder clips in the past for BP tubs (between 4 and 6 per tub depending on tub size). Colin makes a good point though that you have to make sure they really fit the tub and lid. I've snapped one on to find it only grabbed the lid and missed the tub lip completely which did allow a snake to escape (only 1 out of 6 clips was this way and she found it!).
For a boa, considering their power even as young ones, I'd go with a more secure option like a very tight bungee cord or metal C clamps.

Bungees, especially the "mini" versions, work great!!

Just be careful to take them off from the front. :) And that they latch onto BOTH ridges under the lid.

I use the medium/large binder clips for the boas. They work great and I haven't had an escapee yet (knocks on wood).
I use two bungee cords for my BP like Argentra's pic. He isn't as active as the boas and really has no desire to leave his tub, in fact if it weren't for me peeking in on him daily, I wouldn't see him unless it was feeding day.
