Cleaning a Sterlite

How do i make sure that it is clean, i had one sitting in my garage and i dont think it has been used for anything and i rinsed it out and it looks pretty cleaning no stains or anything, so can i just leave it as that?

Do you use Novalsan or Chlorhexidine gluconate for cleaning? If so, spray it down!!

Disinfect it with chlorhexidine if you have it, if not, use a weak bleach solution, but make sure you rinse it very well. I think 1 oz of bleach to 5 gallon of water is good enough.

no i dont have either of those.....good ol soap and hot water wont do the trick??

I would get some bleach. Regular soap can leave residue that can be harmful.

When I clean a tub or cage that wasn't in use a long time or was used by another animal, I soak it overnight in a 1:10 bleach solution then rise it REALLY well and spray it with Clorhexidine solution to finish. I haven't had any health trouble with snakes or rodents yet. *knocks on the desk* :)

Some Dawn or Palmolive and hot water will work just fine. I use Dawn to wash off my adult females after they have laid eggs. Alot of other breeders do as well.

Remember, chlorhexidine DISINFECTS but does not clean. Soap and water CLEANS, and afterwards, you can disinfect. You can't disinfect poo ;)

I usually just fill tubs with very hot water and soap, let sit till the hot water is cooled a bit, give them a very thorough scrub then rinse. Then fill with a bleach/water solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) and let sit for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes. Then I rinse repeatedly under cool running water and dry with paper towels. Never had a problem doing it that way. :)
